Draw comic books

Learn how to draw comic books professionally, from pencils to camera ready artwork, using blue pencil, pencils, brush, nib and ink.

Drawing tuition covers gestural movement for expression and an introduction to anatomically correct proportion. This workshop will introduce students to the materials, papers, inks and techniques used by professional comic book artists.

The workshop will use Will Eisners' Theory of Comics and Sequential Art' as a basis for lessons. It can be downloaded from http://www.floobynooby.com/pdfs/Will_Eisner-Theory_of_Comics_and_Sequential_Art.pdf for free. A highly recommended read along with Alan Moores Alan Moore's Writing for Comics.

    About the tutor:

 

Lawrence Finn is a fine artist with works in the national collection amongst many others. Lawrence began his career as a cartoonist for underground cult classic comicbooks “Pounding tales” & “Eddy the magazine”. Lawrence is an avid reader of 2000ad which he began reading in 1977. Favourite comic books include Halo Jones, Sandman, Preacher, Promethius, Watchmen, V for Vendetta and many more.
